International Moving during the Pandemic
Back in March, our Inverness branch in the Scottish Highlands quoted for a family’s relocation to Perth in Western Australia. Their entire house needed to be export packed and wrapped, using specialist packing materials designed for long-distance moves.
The household contents were loaded into a 20ft shipping container and was ready for the long voyage across the Pacific to Perth. But then Covid-19 reached Europe and lockdown was announced. Our customer’s plans were delayed and their home contents were put safely into storage at our Inverness storage facility. During this time the customer’s load doubled and went from a 20ft to a 40ft shipping container. This was no problem for our crew who are used to operational changes throughout the removals and storage process. Our customers eventually flew out to Australia leaving their belongings in Inverness for us to export once it was safe to do so.
Due to the nature of the relocation during this difficult time, it was a logistically complicated move for both our team and our customers. That said we are delighted that we have finally got the green light and our customer’s belongings will be making their way safely to them for delivery in January. Nearly a year later than planned, but our entire team in Inverness are very pleased the shipment is on its way to its new home.
