The World’s Best Places to Move with Family

Relocating with FamilyRelocating with family

If you are looking to relocate with your family you may be thinking of sunnier climes such as Australia but in fact the best countries to raise families are much closer to home.

#1 Denmark

Denmark is consistently ranked as one of the best places on earth for children, and where could be better than the home of Lego? Denmark is the happiest country in the world according to the Happiness Report and with an archipelago of nearly 500 idyllic islands, a temperate climate and a higher than average standard of living, who wouldn’t be happy? Children enjoy access to excellent healthcare systems, childcare and education and Denmark is regularly in the top four countries worldwide for gender equality. For those who are looking to start a family once they have moved to Denmark it will be a comfort to know that 79% of women go back to their previous level of work after maternity compared to a much lower 59% in the US.

#2 Austria

Austria is located amongst the beautiful setting of the Alps with lots of summer and winter outdoor sports for the whole family to enjoy. Austria’s conscientious social system provides a lot of support for parents and families. All families receive the “Kindergeld” a monthly allowance for childcare expenses paid up until the child reaches 18. Either parent is entitled to up to 2 years paid parental leave and childcare is heavily subsidised, it is no surprise then that Vienna topped Mercer’s Quality of Living Index two years in a row.

#3 Finland

Finland is one of the northerly most countries on Earth, with stunning scenery and over 200,000 islands and lakes it seems like the perfect place to raise your family. You cannot beat Finland when it comes to education and stability. The country has one of the leading education systems in the world and although preschool childcare can be costly schooling is very affordable.  Not only has Finland been named the most stable nation on Earth by the Failed States Index but it is also one of the world’s most egalitarian countries. Women enjoy 3 months mandatory maternity leave with a further six months which can be shared between parents.

#4 Sweden

So we are fast establishing that the Scandinavian countries not only excel in childcare but also have lots of fresh air and beautiful scenery for the perfect outdoor family lifestyle. In 2016 Sweden was voted as the best country to raise children and also ranks as first for childcare and education costs. There is an emphasis on parental sharing in Sweden with paid parental leave in which 80% of the parent’s salary is paid by the government. The Swedish government also provides a monthly allowance per child and gives either parent the right to reduce working hours until the child is eight.

It doesn’t matter to us whether you are moving across town to accommodate your growing brood or are relocating across Europe or the World. At Clockwork we will still work with you and your family to provide the highest quality of service every step of the way.
